Sierra Leone Reflection

While I was reading "Sierra Leone is no Place to be Young," I wondered whether or not M.G. knowing all the prisoners he shot was a coincidence. Did the rebels stalk people before they kidnapped them to find out who was connected to them? I think that would be a possible strategy, since it would allow the rebels to break the kids and force them to fight more easily. I personally find the whole thing horribly wrong. If someone was heartless enough to kidnap kids for soldiers, I think they'd be heartless enough to find out who was conencted to them to harm them, too.

Tone

Isabelle the 13 year old halfling thief hid in the shadows, awaiting the perfect moment to steal from the stall in front of her. She lurked, out of sigh of the merchant, silent and patient.
As the merchant turned to a customer, Isabelle snuck forward. Stealthily, she nabbed a piece of bread and hid once more. She left, her grays blending well with the shadows. The merchant never found out how his bread mysteriously disappeared.

Symbolism Response

The abstract concept I choose is friendship, and the symbol I choose is My Little Pony.  I chose that symbol because the TV show's name is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and the character Twilight Sparkle is learning about friendship.  All the characters become friends and learn about friendship, making this quite an easy thing to pick for me to symbolize.
